And so I sat right down to draw a diagram of our love
I tried to illustrate how the push had turned into shove
I drew two circles representing me n you,
Scratched out in black
It would have been a Venn, but the truth is: no overlap

So I drew a graph, like a photograph, of your heart
And the line shot up, from a zero point at the start
And then my smile, which was thin, became a sickly grin
And then...a frown
I slowly realised that I'd held the thing, upside down
(Schoolboy error)

For my third attempt, I drew a flowchart of your old flames
But I ran out of space, looked like a family tree of Peter Frame’s
Gonna throw my pencils out, gonna burn those drawings, 'til they’re gone gone, good 'n' gone
Cos In the end you see, our conclusion just can’t be drawn
